Welcome to my little corner of the internet! My name is Alexa Tarantino. I am a New York City-based professional jazz saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer, and educator. I love my job and I love my life. I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to make music with amazing people in amazing places. For as long as I’ve been alive, I have loved to travel. When I was a baby, my parents took me anywhere and everywhere. They recount stories of our trips to Italy and how we’d stay up at night living La Dolce Vita in Italian piazzas and trattorias. My mother used to make my stuffed animal and I the most adorable matching outfits - here we are after feeding pigeons in Piazza San Marco in Venezia.

My traveling and touring brings new perspectives, new people, and new traditions. I have loved learning about the people, food, and music from Italy to Abu Dhabi to Mexico to Poland. I have always enjoyed taking photos on my trips, especially of gorgeous venues, sunsets, and desserts 🙂

This travel blog, Alexa Abroad, is a passion project blending my performing and traveling together. For each new area that I post about, I’ll be keeping track of favorite hotels, restaurants, and performance venues, while also suggesting things to do and sharing travel tips and favorite products. If you are a fellow musician stumbling upon this, I hope you find any recommendations helpful. If you are a lover of travel, I hope this might inspire you to incorporate live music and jazz into your travel plans as I recommend my favorite venues and festivals!
