Hello World!

Hello and welcome to my website! I hope that you enjoy a glimpse into my world as a musician and educator.

2019 was an exciting and humbling year for me! I was named one of the “Top 5 Alto Saxophonists of 2019” by the JazzTimes Critics’ Poll. My debut album, “Winds of Change,” peaked at #15 on the JazzWeek Charts and landed at #79 for JazzWeeks Top 100 records of 2019. It has been truly inspiring to listen, play, and teach with such amazing people along the way. Thank you to all of you!

This Spring, I will be traveling for many Jazz Festivals, Conferences, and Workshops both as an individual and on behalf of Jazz at Lincoln Center. Some of these include the Arizona Music Educators Association, New Trier Jazz Festival (IL), University of Northern Iowa Tallcorn Jazz Festival, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, JALC’s Essentially Ellington Regional Festival in Sun Prairie (WI), Suffolk County Music Educators Association (NY), Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland (OH), and Cola Jazz Fest (SC). I have enjoyed and look forward to working with jazz directors and students from all across the country.

Most recently, I have had the opportunity to perform with GRAMMY Award-Winning Jazz Vocalist  Cecile McLorin Salvant  and her OGRESSE Ensemble. We recently recorded OGRESSE and will be touring with the project this Spring. You can catch me with Cecile’s new quintet at the Village Vanguard on February 25-28 and March 1. I’m also honored to be playing with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Gala celebrating “Brubeck + Bird at 100” on April 15th. Other upcoming engagements include Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society at the SF Jazz Center on April 18th, Ulysses Owens Jr.’s Generation Y Southeast tour April 22-25, LSAT heading to Shanghai, and performances with Sherrie Maricle and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra. For more dates and details, head to my calendar page.

Keep your eyes open for my next Alexa Tarantino Quartet album on Posi-Tone Records. I can't wait to share it with you all. My first record as leader for  Posi-Tone Records  is still available. Winds of Change can be purchased  here  or streamed on your preferred music service. I hope you give it a listen! In the meantime, please feel free to check out and subscribe to my latest videos which are released (almost) weekly on my  YouTube channel.

Thank you for visiting and for your continued support! A huge thank you to my sponsors: Vandoren, Yamaha, and BAM Cases. If you’d like to stay in the loop and receive my occasional updates, please subscribe to my mailing list  here.
