Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO), under the artistic direction of Wynton Marsalis, is set to return to Japan for the first time in approximately 20 years. Based in New York City, the orchestra performs thousands of concerts and educational and broadcast events worldwide. Composed of 15 outstanding jazz soloists and ensemble players, the JLCO has been the resident orchestra of Jazz at Lincoln Center since 1988. They spend about a third of the year on world tours, engaging in a wide range of musical activities. Under the direction of Wynton Marsalis, they boast a diverse repertoire ranging from historical jazz works to new compositions, and their performances have educational value. The JLCO’s educational programs have conveyed the charm of music to more than 110,000 people, and workshops for Japanese students are planned during their Japan tour. This will be a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the power of music and experience the depth and allure of jazz.
